MACE is dedicated to providing consultancy to our Tier-2 vendors to help them reach world class level of performance!
Excellence is a journey and we need to keep rediscovering and redefining it.
Today, for winning or surviving, quality and productivity are not adequate; the need of day is cutting edge quality and cutting edge productivity!
The journey of MACE started in 2004.
MACE was incorporated as a joint initiative of MSIL and its component suppliers as a non-profit organization.
The prime objective of MACE has been the up-gradation of its Tier 2 vendors in terms of Quality, Cost and Technology orientation through Training, Consultancy and other Supportive Services. It also supports MSIL'S mission of global quality with zero defects and rejections.
However there were several gaps that needed focused attention to fill them.
It was noticed that the low focused input in the critical technical areas was hampering the productivity and quality of our suppliers. Also attrition level in the key function areas like Tool/Die/Machine/Equipment /Electronics maintenance was on a higher end. The high attrition lead to frequent change in the manpower in special skills areas, leading to poor performance of maintenance of dies, moulds, equipment and machinery.
Awareness about safety, which is critical for the sustenance of any business or industry, was also low at both levels - top management of vendors and vendors’ employees. Safety awareness was in need of an ample push and also demanded infrastructural support to promote a culture.
Low cost automations at Tier-2 vendor level promised a huge untapped scope too. Unavailability of a supplier in the segment and the lack of knowledge prevented from exploring its wide scope.
To tackle the above issues and further the quality of performance, it was proposed by the Top Management of MACE, to setup a Capability Development Center (CDC).
CDC would be a center with the state of art learning resources, targeted learning with theoretical (30% focus) and practical (70% focus) trainings to handhold MSIL vendors. It would provide focused short term technical courses, with emphasis on practical learning and skill development, in areas critical to quality and productivity.
CDC was built within 1 944.92 m² with the following facilities:
1. State of art learning resources
2. Targeted learning with Theoretical and Practical Trainings
3. Curriculum designed on the basis of industry needs – developed by the experts from industry and academia
CDC consists of various types of training cells:
1. Fire & Safety Cell
2. Welding Cell
3. CAD/CAM Cell
4. Die & Hold Maintenance Cell
5. Pneumatics & Hydraulics Cell
6. CNC Programming Cell
7. Mechanical & Electrical Maintenance Cell
The prime motive of Capability Development Center is to bridge the gap between the required skill set with present skill set of the technicians, supervisors and engineers.
The courses and trainings at CDC will be covering the die / machine maintenance technicians, supervisors and engineers and executives.
The industries which will benefit from these courses and trainings are automobile components manufacturer supplying sheet metal, injection moulding, assembly, machine parts and components.
